门德尔松的人生只有短短的38年，他创办了德国第一所现代音乐学院、研究发掘巴赫的音乐并让大众重新认识这位作曲家的严谨与信仰。但是门德尔松最大的音乐遗产，毫无疑问是他独一无二的审美趣味和创作才华，门德尔松的音乐具有一种气度高华的浪漫主义气质，巨大的感染力曾经让纳粹一度禁演他的作品。

门德尔松创作丰富，但对于尚未涉猎他的观众，这场音乐会的曲目是一次欣赏他的代表作的绝 佳机会：耳熟能详的E小调小提琴协奏曲是最著 名古典作品之一，也许也是最为人熟知的小提琴协奏曲；第四号交响曲“意大利”明亮流畅，是门德尔松五部交响曲中演出最多的一部；

著 名的《仲夏夜之梦》序曲开创性的用音乐描写神话场景，为后世作曲家提供了无 尽灵感。

上海交响乐团曾经与迪图瓦、马里纳、赫雷维赫、梵志登、特兹拉夫等合作过上述作品，乐团挟持国际大师给予的音乐养分，这次应当能在与两位九零后中国音乐家的合作中碰撞出精彩的火花：年轻的柳鸣是上海艾萨克-斯特恩国际小提琴比赛的获奖者，而指挥孙一凡更是2019年布加勒斯特国际青年指挥比赛的第一名。中国音乐界各个年龄段都有旗手人物，二位年轻的音乐家无疑已经站在了“九零后”的前线舞台。

Essential Mendelssohn
 
Mendelssohn lived a short but prolific life; he enjoyed career success, founded Leipzig Conservatory, revived interest in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. But above all, he is phenomenal composer with hundreds of compositions full of originality and creativity. After a long period of relative denigration due to changing musical tastes and antisemitism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, his work has finally been re-evaluated and now among the most important composers of the Romantic Era.
The concert consists of three of his signature works: the Violin Concert in E, arguably one of the most popular classical works ever written. Symphony No.4, possibly the most frequently performed Mendelssohn symphonies among all the five he’s written. The popular ‘Midsummer Nights Dream’ overture, was the first piece of its genre and inspired generations to come. Having collaborated with international music giants like Charles Dutoit, Sir Neville Mariner, Philippe Herreweghe, Jaap Van Zweden and Christian Tetzlaff, SSO will surely pass on its understanding of these masterpieces to the young generation: Liu Min, the award winner of Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition, and Sun Yifan, Best Young Conductor Award of the JM International Conducting Competition in 2019. There is every reason to expect that the concert will be as delightful and refreshing as Mendelssohn’s music.
