《魔笛》是奥地利音乐家沃尔夫冈·阿玛迪乌斯·莫扎特生平最 后的一部歌剧作品，剧本取材于诗人维兰德的童话集《金尼斯坦》中一篇名为“璐璐的魔笛”的童话，1780年后由席卡内德改编成歌剧脚本，1791年首演于维也纳。
此次演出的版本，无疑是斯卡拉剧院、斯卡拉歌剧院学院和当代最负盛名的导演之一彼得·斯坦合作的第一步。斯坦对斯卡拉歌剧院学院的年轻艺术家们进行教学和培训，并每年委约其制作一部歌剧制作，在保持高水准的艺术呈现的同时，也给国际一 流的年轻歌唱家们提供展示的舞台。
Die Zauberflte is the last opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The libretto is based on Martin Christoph Wieland’s fairytale “Lulu’s Magic Flute” from Dschinnistan. In 1780, Emanuel Schikaneder adaptedthe story and wrote the libretto for Die Zauberflte. The opera premiered in Vienna in 1791.

This production marked the first step of the collaboration between La Scala Theatre, the Singing Academy and one of the most prestigious directors of our times: Peter Stein. It presents the finest young international singers every year in a setting of the highest order at the end of a unique artistic process in terms of the quality and the level of preparation. Stein has been committed to a new opera production each year and is responsible for the training and teaching of the young artists.

The Teatroalla Scala was founded, under the auspices of the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, to replace the Royal Ducal Theatre, which was destroyed by fire on 26 February 1776 and had until then been the home of opera in Milan. The cost of building the new theatre was borne by the owners of the boxes at the Ducal, in exchange for possession of the land on which stood the church of Santa Maria alla Scala (hence the name) and for renewed ownership of their boxes. Designed by the great neoclassical architect Giuseppe Piermarini, La Scala opened on 3 August 1778 with Antonio Salieri's opera L'EuropaRiconosciuta, to a libretto by MattiaVerazi. With the advent of Rossini in 1812 (La Pietra del Paragone), the Teatroalla Scala was to become the appointed place of Italian opera seria: of its history dating back more than a century and of its subsequent.

The Academy is a unique world heritage which La Scala Theatre must develop further: this is the aim of the project for putting on every year a production with the artists of the Academy along with a leading conductor and director to give these youngsters the opportunity to introduce themselves to the public in an extremely high-level setting.
