迈克科勒大师出生在音乐之都——德国，德累斯顿市。早年在德累斯顿担任钢琴独奏家，之后在柏林学习了声学工程及指挥。从柏林汉斯•艾斯勒音乐学校毕业后，他继续在慕尼黑师从切利比达赫大师，后又至巴黎学习。他与Kurt Masur，Gerd Albrecht，Rolf Reuter等一起参与了大师班。
他自2000年起，担任莱比锡爱乐乐团的艺术总监及音乐总监，带来了大量的精彩的音乐会演出。大众被他的想象力和创造性深深吸引。2008年，他被选为了萨克森交响乐团的首席指挥及艺术指导。他也是意大利贝加莫the Festival Internazionale della Cultura的首席客座指挥。2010年，他在韩国首尔担任指挥、教授。

Maestro Michael Koehler was born in the musical city of Dresden, Germany. After spending his early years in Dresden as solo pianist, he studied sound engineering and orchestra conducting in Berlin.
After his graduation from the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin (class of GMD Prof. Rolf Reuter, Berlin State Opera) he continued his studies with Maestro Sergiu Celibidache in Munich and at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. He participated in master classes with Kurt Masur, Gerd Albrecht, Rolf Reuter and at the Yehudi Menuhin Academy, Gstaad among others.
Maestro Michael Koehler is renowned for excellence in musical performances around the world. His unique concerts enrich cultural life and gain enormous public recognition.
The dark and warm sound of his orchestras, much praised today, has grown from the German tradition.
Michael Koehler is a Renowned Conductor and professor. He has achieved excellent results with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the University of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy,Leipzig.
He regularly accompanies renowned and internationally recognized soloists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Staatskapelle and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (Guyv Braunstein, Lothar Strauss, Christian Funke and Michael Barenboim). Recent recordings are released by Sony Music. He received the Global Music Award in 2011 for his DVD.
Michael Koehler has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Frankfurt HR Concert Hall, Chicago Harris Theatre, Tanglewood, Royal Festival Stockholm, St. Petersburg Grand Philharmonic Hall, House of Music Moscow, Bayreuth Opera House, Beijing Hall of the People, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Seoul Arts Center, Mumbai National Center of the Performing Arts and Bangalore Chowdiah Concert Hall i.e. Radio and TV like ARD, ZDF, RAI, Russian TV 1, CCTV, Indian National TV i.e. have covered his activities. He has conducted numerous orchestras across in Europe, Asia and America (USA, Italy, Sweden, Russia, China, South Korea, India and Latin America).
He is one of the few very competent and highly capable orchestra conductors. Every orchestra will be fortunate to have such a musician as conductor.
As the Artistic Director and Music Director of the Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra since 2000, he has presented series of brilliant concerts and the public have been drawn by his imagination and innovativeness. In 2008, he was chosen as the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Saxonian Symphony Orchestra. He was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Festival Internazionale della Cultura in Bergamo (Italy). In 2010 he was appointed conductor and professor at Seoul (Korea).
In addition to his performing career, he dedicates a part of his time to teaching. Since 1998, he has been working at the Leipzig University of Music and Drama,Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ as Orchestra Conductor and teacher. He collaborated with Kurt Masur, Herbert Blomstedt, Fabio Luisi and Daniel Harding. He wrote his thesis in musicology at the Humboldt University of Berlin and was conferred the title of Doctor Philosophiae in 2000.
